LIC Bonus Issue News: State-run Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has announced its first-ever bonus shares. In a regulatory filing on April 13, 2026 (Monday), LIC said that the board has approved a bonus issue of shares in the ratio of 1:1.

This 1:1 bonus share ratio means that LIC will issue one share to the eligible shareholders for every existing one share.

LIC Bonus Issue Share Face Value

LIC shares have a face value of Rs 10 each.

"The Board of Directors of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) in their meeting held today, inter alia considered and approved the issuance of bonus equity shares in the proportion of 1:1," LIC said in a filing on April 13, 2026.

LIC said that the bonus issue is subject to the approval of the shareholders of the company.

LIC Bonus Issue Share Record Date

LIC, in its latest filing, didn't announce the record date. LIC said that the record date will be announced later.

"...record date shall be announced subsequently. The issuance of bonus equity shares shall be subject to the approval of shareholders," LIC filing added.

LIC said that the existing authorised equity share capital is Rs 25,000 crore and the paid-up equity share capital is Rs 6,324.99 crore. After the LIC bonus issue, the company said that the paid-up equity share capital shall increase to Rs 12,649.99 crore.

LIC Dividend History 

LIC has regularly paid dividends to its investors since its IPO listing. According to BSE data, LIC has a dividend yield of around 1.5 per cent per share.

In 2025, LIC had paid a dividend to its shareholders in July 2025 - Rs 12 per share of Rs 10 face value. In 2024, LIC had paid dividends twice -- Rs 4 in February and Rs 6 in July. In 2023 and 2022, LIC had paid dividends of Rs 3 and Rs 1.50, respectively, per share.

LIC had launched its IPO in May 2022 and issued shares at Rs 949 (LIC IPO Price).

LIC shares have remained under pressure since the listing. On Monday (April 13), LIC share price closed 1.3 per cent higher at Rs 809.
