LIC Bonus Issue News: State-run Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has said that it may announce bonus shares for the investors. In an exchange filing on April 7 late evening, LIC said that a board meeting is scheduled to take place on April 13, 2026 (Monday) to consider a proposal to issue bonus shares.

If announced, this will be the first-ever bonus issue by LIC since its IPO listing.

"It is to inform that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (“the Corporation”) is scheduled to be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 to inter-alia consider and recommend a proposal for issue of Bonus shares in accordance with the applicable provisions, subject to the approval of the shareholders of the Corporation," LIC said in the filing.

LIC Bonus Issue News: Face Value Rs 10

LIC shares have a face value of Rs 10. It means that LIC bonus shares, if declared by the board, will also carry a face value of Rs 10. 

LIC didn't announce whether the bonus share record will be announced along with the bonus ratio on April 13.

LIC had launched its IPO in May 2022 and issued shares at Rs 949 (LIC IPO Price).

LIC shares have remained under pressure since the listing. On Tuesday (April 7), LIC shares closed in the red at Rs 743.35.

LIC Dividend History 

LIC has a good dividend yield. LIC dividend yield is currently at 1.6 per cent.

LIC has paid dividends to its shareholders five times since the IPO listing. In 2022, LIC paid a dividend of Rs 1.50 to its shareholders on each share. Later in 2023 and 2024 (twice), LIC paid Rs 3 and Rs 10 as dividends, respectively.

In 2025, LIC paid Rs 12 as a dividend to its shareholders. This was the highest-ever dividend amount by LIC.
