Vedanta Demerger Date: Anil Agarwal's Vedanta Ltd has once again extended the demerger deadline. Vedanta, through an exchange filing, said that it has decided to extend the deadline to June 30, 2026.

Vedanta said that the decision to extend the demerger deadline was made because approvals from certain government authorities are still pending.

Vedanta Demerger Date: Company Statement 

Vedanta said that it is taking necessary steps to take forward the demerger and secure all the approvals.

"Since certain conditions precedent to the Scheme, including receipt of approvals from certain governmental authorities, are yet to be fulfilled and are in the process of completion, the Board of Directors of the Company and the Resulting Companies have, in terms of Clause 39.7 of the Scheme, approved the extension of the timeline for fulfilment of such conditions precedent from March 31, 2026 to June 30, 2026," Vedanta said in an exchange filing.

Vedanta Demerger Date Timeline: History

Vedanta had earlier announced to complete the demerger by March 31, 2025. This was the original demerger schedule declared by the company. Vedanta then extended the demerger deadline to September 30, 2025. This was the first time Vedanta has extended the demerger deadline.

In September 2025, Vedanta again decided to extend the demerger deadline and fixed March 31, 2026, as the deadline. Now, once again, Vedanta has announced the extension of the deadline for demerger.

Vedanta demerger plan involves separating the existing company into five new companies.

  1. Vedanta Ltd (already listed). It will house the base metals business.
  2. Vedanta Aluminium
  3. Talwandi Sabo Power
  4. Vedanta Steel and Iron
  5. Malco Energy

Vedanta Demerger Date: Share Ratio, Record Date

Vedanta has announced that its shareholders will get one share of each demerged company for every one share held in the parent firm. Vedanta will announce a demerger record date at a later stage.

Based on the demerger record date, Vedanta will give shares of the new companies to the eligible shareholders.

Shares of all the newly created companies will list on the bourses BSE and NSE.
