Ashok Mittal ED Raid News: The Enforcement Directorate has raided business entities linked to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashok Mittal in Punjab. Ashok Mittal is a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab. He had assumed the office in April 2022.
According to a PTI report, the ED raids were conducted as a part of a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) probe, a PTI report said, citing officials. The raids were conducted earlier this month.
As per the report, about 10 locations in Jalandhar and Gurugram were covered under the provisions of the FEMA. This included the premises of the Phagwara-based Lovely Professional University (LPU) and two linked educational institutions named Tetr College of Business and Masters Union College of Business located in Gurugram.

Ashok Mittal is a 61-year-old businessman and educationist who heads the Lovely Group, including a university by this name.
Ashok Mittal was recently made the deputy leader of the AAP in the Rajya Sabha, replacing Raghav Chadha.

Apart from some other locations, officials told PTI that ED searches were conducted at multiple business entities linked to Ashok Mittal in Jalandhar and Phagwara.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has condemned the ED's raids. He said that the BJP has begun its 'preparations' for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.
"BJP begins preparations for Punjab elections. ED raids at the home and university of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal... typical Modi style," Mann said.
